THE MOST IMPORTANT Basic Hygiene — The Essentials • BATHING AND DRYING : Use a specialized shampoo suited to the specific coat and skin type. Ensure thorough drying to prevent fungal infections. • BRUSHING AND DESHEDDING : Remove dead hair and knots. During shedding season, you can remove kilos of loose fur. • NAIL TRIMMING : If nails grow too long, they cause pain when walking and can lead to paw deformities. • EAR CLEANING: Remove earwax and excess hair to prevent infections. • ANAL GLAND CLEANING: If the glands become impacted, the dog may scoot along the ground and emit an unpleasant odor. • BASIC DENTAL CARE: Regular brushing or use of a tartar-control additive. AESTHETICS AND STYLING — What the Client Sees • BREED STANDARD CUT : Keeping a Poodle looking like a Poodle, or a Schnauzer with its signature skirt and beard. Every breed has its own specific standard. • COMMERCIAL /PET CUT : The "Teddy Bear Cut"—a style designed to keep the dog cool and make home maintenance easy.
